Eloise Rapp – 30
TELL US ABOUT YOUR PRACTICE?
I’m a textile designer, illustrator and creative coordinator. I have an
accessory label called RAPP through which I design and produce big, colourful
printed silk scarves, and I’m also a part-time creative coordinator for the
Ken Done studio. My professional background is in textile print design for
the fashion industry and I’m trained in dyeing, printing, technical repeats,
production...all that fun stuff.
IF YOU COULD WORK FOR ANYBODY IN THE WORLD, WHO WOULD IT BE?
WHAT WAS THE BEST ADVICE YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN?
Not everything has to happen straight away. Worked a charm for a once
highly impatient designer.
WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO AT THE MOMENT?
Loads of things. I’m really enjoying some new Melbourne sounds -
Total Control’s ‘Typical System’ and Becky Sui Zhen’s ‘Female Basic’ EP are
on regular rotation. I’ve also been putting together a love song mix, as I
have a few friends getting hitched soon. Plenty of old soul, garage and r’n’b.
I’ll share it with the internet eventually. It’s also rare that a day passes
without me listening to Prince.
WHAT WAS THE LAST BOOK YOU READ?
I finally got around to reading The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov.
It’s a classic novel that’s an interesting combination of political satire and
magic realism. Devil turns up in Stalinist Moscow, wreaks havoc, throw in some
poets and performers, Judas, Pontious Pilate and a few grizzly deaths...good
