Describe what you do
I'm an artist and graphic designer with many other hobbies as it's hard to pick just one thing. I'm obsessed with print-design so that is a big part of my work.
What female artists do you admire?
Joy Hester - She was one of the first female artists to truly inspire me and open my eyes to a way of artistic expression I hadn't really seen elsewhere. I'm currently obsessed with Maren Karlson, a Berlin-based artist who's work I can really relate to. The way she presents females in her work as a way of expressing her own desire to be a more powerful and intimidating woman is something I love.
Describe the approach to your work?
I approach my art very differently to my design work. If I'm completing a design for a client I will plan, research and develop ideas to put together a concept, whereas with my art I usually have an idea come to me almost from nowhere. My art is based almost completely on my feelings in the moment when I'm creating it, as an outlet for what I'd rather say visually instead of verbally.
What are you listening to at the moment?
Sean Nicholas Savage, Hiroyuki Namba, Haruomi Hosono and the "Spring 2 Mix' by Dj Lil' Tuts.
What do you do to relax?
I like to totally zone-out from everything stressing my out, usually by watching a good documentary and crocheting or knitting. Drawing relaxes me also, or listening to some chilled music and burning some essential oils.
What is the last book that you read?
'The Wizard of Anharitte' by Colin Kapp, currently reading 'Good Money' by Stella Hardy.
